  • Activity requirement of 1 flight per month per selected airframe, unless on approved Leave of Absence.

Active Duty training consists of Naval Introductory Flight Training (NIFE), then Basic Flight Training (BFT), and finally airframe specific training. This process can take a while, so all Active Duty Members can operate reserve/logistics flights while in training!

Reservist pilots have much less stringent training requirements and are meant for the more casual person to still be a part of our community. Requirements are:

Reservist pilots only need to complete 1 flight per quarter (every 90 days) and need only complete Introductory Flight Training, or NIFE, which takes about 4 hours and is self-paced.

Reservist pilots can go active duty after joining but will need to complete Basic Flight Training.

Reservist pilots can only operate A-B logistics flights using the CNV (“CONVOY”) and CMB (“CAMBER”) callsigns. Reservist pilots are NOT mission rated and can NOT fly special operations.
